  1. What type of coffee should I use for my Super Automatic Espresso machine?

In general a medium to medium dark roast is recommended. We suggest that you stay away from dark and/or oily roasts. If you process decaffeinated beans make sure they are a light to medium roast, as the decaffeinating process removes a good portion of the oils, making the beans more brittle.

  2. Should I store my opened bag of beans in the freezer?

NO! that will dry them out and make them brittle, and when they hit the grinder will produce lots of micro particles that will clog the grinder and brew unit.

  3. Is there a difference between the Jura Brew Unit cleaning tablets and the Selecto Universal Café Clean cleaning tablets?

They are both ideal for cleaning your brew unit, however Universal Café Clean is phosphate FREE ( environmentally friendly). Price per tablet of the Universal Café clean is substantially less.

  4. How often should I clean my machine?

When prompted by the machine, which depending on the model is between 230 and 250 cups.

  5. Do I need to decalcify my machine?

Yes, it is recommended if you do not use Claris water filters, you need to descale according to the hardness level that you set on your machine ( see manual), and with a Claris water filter we recommend every 6 months.

  6. What is the difference between Durgol and Jura decalcifying tablets?

Durgol is a premeasured liquid that requires absolutely no dissolving as opposed to the Jura tablets. Durgol comes in 2 premeasured plastic bottles good for 2 applications. The Jura tablets come with 9 tablets, good for 3 applications, as you need to dissolve 3 tablets for each decalcification process. Effectiveness is the same, it is just a matter of preference.

  7. Do I need to clean the frother?

Absolutely, as milk build up is quite damaging to the machine not to mention unhygienic. The Cappuccinatore Cleaning liquid, Item # J2850, is a concentrated solution that when mixed with water is very effective in cleaning the milk frothing device on your espresso machine.

  8. What is the difference between Claris filters and Clearyl filters?

There is NO difference, other than the label! You can use either one in ALL Jura models.

  9. What machines do the Claris or Clearyl filters fit?

All machine models that are Jura. However there is a Retro- Fit kit available for other models. Please inquire by writing us at customerservice@selectobrands.com

  10. How do I store my unused claris or clearyl water filters?

They will keep indefinitely when stored in a ziplock storage bag at room temperature.
